I can't make up my mind about this Radio 4 programme
Down the Line. Sometimes it's interesting, rarely funny and other times I think it borders on offensive. Have a listen and see what you think - today's programme was about religion and a newly 'discovered' colour.

I reckon it's intended to border on offensive - it seems to be a satire of the kind of people who contribute to radio phone-ins. E.g. the Christian last night with the "I don't think you'd be saying that if I was a Muslim" - very funny.
Also, especially with last week, the ignorance of the callers can be very funny. But more commonly, it's their off the wall stupidity of sillyness like `i think in colour` or `i think women should have to pay a cursory fine for giving their opinions to make their conversation just a little less tedious at dinner parties` that makes me laugh.
I think people's taste in comedy can be quite varied and unique though. Like I find things funny that break taboos or are just plain and utter nonsense, whereas some people like gag based stuff like friends or Just a Minute. Other times, comedy can be both subtle and unsubtle, like bottom, the slapstick makes you laugh but you laugh more because you're laughing at something so childish and pointless. I suppose Down the Line goes down that route too.
I think there's comedy that borders on offensive like Ricky Gervais type stuff - you cringe and it makes you feel uncomforatble but it makes a point and is funny.
I'm not sure Down the Line falls into the same catagory but I don't know why! Maybe eg The Office has such a big dose of satire (?)that it makes it easier to digest.
Happy Xmas! (I never did find out what wording you put on those paintings)
Oh yeah, we put love, honour and cherish on our paintings, one word on each. I'll post a pic sometime.
Merry Christmas to you too and everyone else!
